Annual Events

We have a mixture of Annual Events that we participate in, organised by the Union, Nexus, the Institute of Physics Student Branch and ones we always do ourselves.

Christmas Event

Every Christmas we organise some sort of celebration, normally a Party or a Chirstmas meal at a local restaurant. We help from Nexus, we have been able to subsidised these events for our members. In 2004 we went to L'Oasis and had a wonderful meal with excellent service, party hat and crackers included and a perfect overall atmosphere for festive celebrations, while in 2005 and 2006 we went to Fat Cat after a movie and finished the evening with a party.

E* Event

At the end of the second semester, we celebrate Easter. In 2004, this was with a party held at a local pub however in recent years this has been replaced with the E* egg launching challenge and a trip to a local bar.

Colours and Honours

There are two sets of Colours and Honours that we attend. One held by our own Union and the other by the institute of Physics. Other the years we have one many awards as a society:

2002/03 - Funniest Society (IoP Awards)
2004/05 - Best Society Webpage (IoP Awards)
2004/05 - Best Society (QM Awards)
2004/05 - Best Treasurer - James Poll (QM Awards)
2005/06 - Best Treasurer - Nicola Rolfe (QM Awards)
2005/06 - Society Personality of the Year - Nicola Rolfe (QM Awards)

Also, we nominate one or two of our members for society honours, the successful members have been:

2003/04 - Joanna Goodger
2004/05 - Steve Hudziak and James Poll
2005/06 - Nicola Rolfe
2006/07 - Rosie Rosling

Summer Ball

This is the last Annual Event of the year. Arranged by the Union, we all dress up in our very best and head of for an expensive meal in a Hotel in London and dance the night away.
