Our social events vary in themselves from entertainment based events to cultural and educational trips in and around London.
Every semester, we go ice skating at least once to improve our 'technique' before attending an ice disco at the end of the
year. This is a popular event and every members comes ice skating at least once. People fall over, and once somebody
broke their arm, but fun is generally had by all including the casulties. We also go bowling and through sharing our skills,
help one another in friendly competition.
These are intersperced with trips around London to exhibits at the various museums and galleries, as well as other popular
London attractions. We try to visit the Science Museum every year and little-known museums to like the Museum of
Childhood in Bethnal Green. In previous years we have visited Kew Gardens and the London Aquarium at the request of our
members and there are plenty of other places on the list of future events.
When we have evening events such as Hail Mary, the Union's Clubs and Societies Night, or inaugural lectures organised by the
college, we spend our Wednesday afternoon sampling the local cuisine. A favourite is Wings Chinese Buffet on the other side
of Mile End Park, with their all-you-can-eat menu.
On the odd occasion when a long awaited movie is released we will organise a group outting to the cinema. For the release of
Matrix Revolutions, we had a group of 25. Although the movie was certainly not the best released that year, all had fun in
the atmosphere created by being with PsiStar.
Throughout the year, many of our members celebrate various religious holidays and we take this oportunity to celebrate with
them. In the past we have held Dawali Parties where we sampled traditional sweets and homemade specialties from our hindu
members. Annually we celebrate Christmas with a Party or a dinner at a local restaurant, both subsidised by PsiStar, and for
the past two years we have celebrated the Chinese New Year by visiting China Town or a local Chinese Restaurant.
